Beirut: Deputy Prime Minister, Tarek Mitri, on Tuesday received the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jean Arnault, to discuss the situation in Lebanon and the role of the United Nations, particularly following the end of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon's mission.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the meeting aimed to evaluate the current state of affairs in Lebanon and consider the future involvement of the United Nations in the country. The discussions centered on maintaining stability and security in the region after the conclusion of UNIFIL's mission. Both parties emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Lebanon and the United Nations to address ongoing challenges.
The talks also focused on exploring alternative measures to support peace and security in Lebanon post-UNIFIL. Mitri and Arnault underlined the need for sustained international support and engagement to ensure that Lebanon navigates this transitional period effectively.
