MoPWT Launches Major Maintenance Works: Operations on Mseilha-Batroun, Hazmieh-Airport Road, and Coastal Highway

Beirut: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced the continuation of a series of maintenance and rehabilitation works on several key roadways, as part of a comprehensive traffic-safety plan under the 'Lebanon on Track' project, carried out in full coordination with the Internal Security Forces.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry stated that works on the Mseilha-Batroun highway are ongoing after the contractor launched Phase One on 5 December 2025 along the westbound lane (Tripoli-Beirut direction), including expansion-joint repairs and pavement rehabilitation. The two-week operation will later shift to the eastbound lane (Beirut-Tripoli) according to schedule, to ensure winter safety and structural readiness.

Starting Monday evening, 8 December 2025, a ministry contractor will begin rehabilitation works on the Hazmieh-Airport Road, including expansion-joint maintenance on the southbound lane toward Sidon. The works will take place daily from 21:00 to 05:00 to ease traffic flow and address critical points along this vital corridor.

Also beginning this evening, phosphorescent road-marking works will be implemented on the westbound highway between Halat and Nahr Ibrahim, from 22:00 to 05:00, except on Saturdays and Sundays. The upgrade aims to improve night visibility and enhance safety along the coastal highway.

The ministry urged drivers to follow ISF guidance and heed signage placed around work zones, noting that preventive maintenance will continue across major road networks to ensure safer, more efficient transport services nationwide.
