Abu dhabi: Minister of Information, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, participated in the 2025 Bridge Summit held in Abu Dhabi, which brings together experts, policymakers, content creators, and media leaders in the region to discuss the future of the media industry and the impact of digital transformations on its development at the Arab and global levels.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, within the framework of strengthening Lebanese-Gulf relations, Minister Morcos held a series of meetings with a number of his Arab counterparts. These included the Chairman of the National Media Office in the United Arab Emirates, Minister Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Kuwaiti Minister of Information Abdul Rahman Al Mutairi, Bahraini Minister of Information Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Eng. Khaled Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, and the Undersecretary of the Jordanian Ministry of Government Communication, Dr. Zaid Nawaiseh.
Additionally, Morcos met with Senegalese President Macky Sall to discuss prospects for cooperation between Lebanon and Senegal, particularly in the media and cultural fields. Following the meeting of Arab information ministers on the sidelines of the conference, Morcos met with the CEO of the Thomson Foundation, Caro Creel, to discuss ways to support the state-run "Radio Lebanon" and develop its technical capabilities.
Creel expressed the Foundation's readiness to provide the necessary assistance and enhance training and partnership programs to modernize the public radio sector. Morcos handed Creel a list of the radio station's needs, and she promised to hold a meeting soon with the foundation's directors to discuss ways to meet these needs.
Minister Morcos affirmed that Lebanon is open to all initiatives that enhance Arab media partnerships. He stressed that his tours in Arab and Gulf countries aim to rebuild and strengthen communication bridges with sister countries, as this constitutes a fundamental pillar for advancing the Lebanese media sector and consolidating Beirut's presence in the Arab media landscape.
In parallel, Morcos participated in a closed session for ministers, media leaders, and creative institutions, where he explained the Lebanese Ministry of Information's efforts in combating fake and misleading news and the training workshops taking place at the ministry. He called for an Arab charter to combat fake news and a permanent follow-up committee to avoid the evils of technology while preserving its advantages and sparing the new generation these evils.
