Beirut: Minister of Information, Paul Morcos, on Thursday announced that the Cabinet will hold an extraordinary session on Monday to discuss the mechanism for administrative appointments. He also confirmed the appointment of new heads for Lebanon's security agencies: Brigadier General Rodolphe Haikal as the Commander of the Army, Brigadier General Raed Abdullah as the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Brigadier General Hassan Chekir as the Director General of General Security, and Brigadier General Edgar Lawandos as the Director General of State Security.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Morcos emphasized that the appointments were based on experience and competence, with the Cabinet ensuring strict adherence to merit-based criteria. The Information Minister added that President Joseph Aoun highlighted the International Monetary Fund's insistence on appointing a Central Bank Governor and passing amendments to the banking secrecy law and the bank restructuring law.
