Nabatieh: Information Minister, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, expressed his deep regret upon receiving the news of the martyrdom of Al-Manar TV photojournalist Hussein Hammoud, following the Israeli attack on the city of Nabatieh today.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Morcos stated, "This is a clear and repeated violation of the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their 1977 Additional Protocols, which stipulate the need to neutralize, indeed to protect, journalists in the course of performing their professional mission, as the rules of war themselves are being violated, and there is no excuse or justification for this."
While offering his condolences to the family of the martyr and the media community, Minister Morcos reiterated his appeal to the international community to ensure that journalists are not targeted by Israeli attacks while covering news in pursuit of conveying the truth.
Morcos revealed that he is "in the process of reporting these painful and condemned incidents to official channels, particularly at the United Nations."
