Morcos Engages with LADE and Adyan Foundation to Boost Electoral Awareness


Beirut: Minister of Information, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, engaged in discussions to enhance media and electoral awareness during a meeting with a delegation from the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) at his office in the Ministry. The delegation was composed of Dr. Rima Al-Adhami, Diana Al-Baba, and Maya Safieddine.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Dr. Al-Adhami highlighted that the meeting focused on potential cooperation avenues between the Association and the Ministry of Information, especially with public media outlets, as preparations are underway for the forthcoming parliamentary elections. The discussion underscored the possibility of airing educational content aimed at voters, candidates, and media professionals involved in election coverage. Plans to organize training courses within the ministry for media teams covering elections were also discussed.



Dr. Al-Adhami emphasized the necessity for electoral law provisions to be comprehensible to both media professionals and citizens to ensure their electoral rights are exercised effectively. She also pointed out the significance of raising awareness among non-resident expatriates about their voting rights and the mechanisms to enable their participation from abroad.



In a separate meeting, Minister Morcos welcomed a delegation from the Adyan Foundation, including Joanna Al-Akk, head of the Youth Parliament’s Media Committee, along with the committee’s trainer Josiane Al-Hajj Moussa and Youth Parliament members I’tidal Obeid, Yasmine Salha, and Riad Saleh. Al-Akk reported that they had informed the Minister about the media laws drafted by their committee, particularly the three laws submitted to the General Assembly. Minister Morcos provided valuable insights and suggestions for new legislative ideas in this domain.
