Beirut: Information Minister, Paul Morcos, on Wednesday received a delegation from the Free Patriotic Movement, including MPs Nicolas Sehnaoui and Jimmy Jabbour, vice president for political affairs Martine Najm Kteily, and media coordinator Michel Abou Najm.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, discussions during the meeting were centered around the "Protecting Lebanon" proposal. This proposal emphasizes a code of conduct linked to the media sector, addressing issues such as rising incitement, sectarian tension, and the plethora of accusations circulating both in public discourse and on social media.
Kteily highlighted that both parties concurred on the necessity to safeguard national unity and prevent the outbreak of strife. She underscored the importance of fostering more responsible public discourse. Furthermore, Kteily mentioned that Morcos conveyed his commitment to encourage a calmer and more disciplined media rhetoric.
In a subsequent meeting, Morcos engaged with Kuwaiti Ambassador Mohammad Sultan Al-Sharji to deliberate on regional developments and explore avenues to enhance bilateral media relations.
