Beirut: Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide declared his nation's opposition to the occupation and systematic destruction occurring in Southern Lebanon during a meeting at the Sidon Governmental Serail. Eide emphasized that Norway's commitment to Lebanon's stability remains steadfast and continuous, underscoring the country's unwavering support in the face of ongoing challenges.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Eide's remarks were made at an expanded meeting organized by South Lebanon Governor Mansour Daou. The gathering included leaders from the municipal unions of Nabatieh, Tyre, Sidon, and Jezzine, alongside Norwegian Ambassador to Lebanon Hilde Haraldstad and UNHCR Representative Carolina Lindholm Billing. The meeting served as a platform to discuss the increasing pressures faced by these regions, especially due to crises and displacement issues.
Prior to the meeting, Eide, Governor Daou, Ambassador Haraldstad, and other attendees visited the Disaster and Crisis Management Operations Room at the South Governorate. They received a briefing from its head, Salam Badreddine, concerning the efforts to assist people displaced by Israeli attacks. Badreddine highlighted the significant challenges the operations room faces, including severe shortages in aid and limited resources, which complicate their response efforts.
