Muscat: A joint Omani-Lebanese statement was issued on Wednesday following the two summits held in the Sultanate of Oman between Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, who is currently visiting Muscat. The statement emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across political, economic, investment, banking, tourism, transport, and logistics sectors.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Sultan and President Aoun called for early preparations to convene the first session of the Omani-Lebanese Joint Committee, chaired by the two foreign ministers in Muscat, and to work toward signing new agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and boosting trade, cultural, and scientific exchange. They also underscored a greater role for the private sector in leveraging opportunities for partnership and development.
Both sides demanded an immediate halt to Israeli attacks on Lebanon, a full withdrawal from all Lebanese and Arab occupied territories, and support for international efforts to prevent escalation, stabilize the situation, facilitate the return of displaced persons, and advance reconstruction.
