Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman observes Omani Women's Day on October 17, celebrating the pivotal role of women in various sectors contributing to the nation's progress. This year's theme, "Women as Partners in Development," emphasizes their integral part in advancing Oman Vision 2040. According to Oman News Agency, the day serves as a recognition of women's achievements across politics, economy, culture, and education, and their role in sustainable development. The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reports that as of June 2024, 100,450 Omani women are employed in the public sector and 119,593 in the private sector. Additionally, women make up 57% of the artisan workforce. The celebration not only highlights the current status but also the educational attainments of Omani women. The number of females in public schools has reached 366,532, with 62,212 in private institutions. Furthermore, there are 40,368 female teachers in public schools and 6,793 in private schools, showcasing the signifi cant presence of women in the educational field. Omani Women's Day underscores the critical role women continue to play in Oman's journey towards achieving its long-term developmental goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
