RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) of failing to prevent what it describes as a genocidal war against the Palestinian people. In a recent statement, the ministry called on the UNSC to fulfill its legal obligations and exercise its authority to protect Palestinians, urging an end to alleged genocidal acts, including the use of starvation as a weapon, deprivation of medical care, and forced displacement in the northern Gaza Strip. According to Oman News Agency, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned against any plans that might solidify apartheid within the Palestinian territories, arguing that such actions would jeopardize the chances of establishing an independent Palestinian state. The statement emphasized that the Israeli occupation lacks the authority to manage institutions within the Palestinian enclave and stressed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory. The ministry asserted tha t the recognized Palestinian leadership is the only entity capable of resolving the ongoing crisis, advocating for the freedom and self-determination of the Palestinian people. It urged nations professing support for a two-state solution to honor their commitments in a manner that genuinely reflects this solution, promoting security and stability for all involved parties. Furthermore, the statement highlighted the ministry's ongoing international efforts to cease the alleged genocidal conflict. It is working in conjunction with its embassies and diplomatic missions to build a larger global coalition, aiming to pressure adherence to international legitimacy and resolutions, particularly the UN General Assembly resolution supporting the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion.
