Parliamentary Committees and Public Events Shape Lebanon’s Agenda

Beirut: A series of meetings and events were programmed to take place in Lebanon, showcasing a range of significant issues being addressed by parliamentary committees and public organizations. At 9:30 am, the Committee on National Economy, Trade, Industry, and Planning, chaired by MP Farid Al-Bustani, convened to discuss challenges facing the external transit truck transport sector. This was held in Room 310 on the 3rd floor of the Parliament offices.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, at 10:00 am, the Committee on National Education, Higher Education, and Culture, led by MP Hassan Mrad, gathered to deliberate on enhancing educational inspection, taking place on the 1st floor of the Parliament offices. Simultaneously, the Beirut Bar Association marked the centennial of the Intellectual Property Law in Lebanon with a celebration under the patronage of President Joseph Aoun at the House of the Lawyer.

At 10:30 am, two meetings were scheduled. The Committee on Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, chaired by MP Fadi Alameh, met on the 3rd floor of the Parliament offices, while the Finance and Budget Committee, led by MP Ibrahim Kanaan, examined a draft law concerning the restructuring and reform of Lebanon's banking sector in the Public Library Hall of the Parliament offices.

The Fact-Finding Subcommittee from the Committee on Public Works, Transport, Energy, and Water, chaired by MP Ibrahim Mneimneh, assembled at 12:00 pm. They discussed findings on the Integrated System Project related to driver's licenses and the digitalization of the Vehicle Registration Service.

Other notable events included a protest by Rafik Hariri University Hospital Employees demanding overdue salaries, a press conference by the Lebanese-Palestinian Coordination Committee for Prisoners and Detainees, and the launch of 'My Right - National Campaign for the Political Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Lebanon' by the Lebanese Union for People with Physical Disabilities in partnership with the UNDP.

Further in the day, various events like a seminar on artificial intelligence at Universit© La Sagesse and the announcement of the 'Kulna Lil Batroun' municipal list were also scheduled, reflecting the diverse and complex issues being navigated across the nation.
