Beirut: Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, on Friday, received the European Union Special Representative for Human Rights, Kajsa Ollongren, at the Grand Serail. The meeting, attended by the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, and an accompanying delegation, focused primarily on the situation in the south amidst ongoing Israeli attacks and the upcoming parliamentary elections. Premier Salam emphasized that the legislative elections will proceed as scheduled.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Ollongren assured the Prime Minister that the European Union intends to send observers to monitor the parliamentary elections, maintaining their usual oversight practices. In a separate engagement, Premier Salam welcomed Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, who delivered a congratulatory message from the Russian Prime Minister in honor of Lebanon's Independence Day. Discussions during this meeting also covered current developments and the status of bilateral relations between Lebanon and Russia.
Additionally, the Prime Minister conducted a meeting with Ahmed Hashmieh, head of the 'Beirut for Development' and 'Imkan' Associations, to discuss the conditions and affairs affecting the city of Beirut.
