Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday focused on the security situation at the northern-eastern border, engaging in discussions with Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal. General Haykal briefed President Aoun on the ongoing measures to restore calm and stability in that region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun underscored the necessity of ensuring a ceasefire, halting any attacks, and maintaining effective border control in the frontier villages. In addition to security matters, President Aoun met with Polish Ambassador to Lebanon, Aleksandra Bukowska-McCabe. Their discussion centered around enhancing bilateral relations and examining the general situation in Lebanon along with current regional developments.
Further, President Aoun held talks with British retired army officer, Lieutenant General Sir Graeme Lamb, and retired Colonel Giles Taylor, focusing on the regional situation amidst recent developments. Additionally, Monaco's Consul in Lebanon, Sheikh Bechara El Khoury, relayed a message from Prince Albert II of Monaco, congratulating President Aoun on his election and extending an invitation to visit Monaco.
President Aoun also welcomed a delegation from the Foundation for the Preservation of the Heritage of Charles de Gaulle in Lebanon, led by George Nour. Nour highlighted the Foundation's objectives, particularly the preservation of General de Gaulle's legacy and heritage in Lebanon.
