Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, arrived in Kuwait this evening on a two-day official visit, where he was received at the airport by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as well as Lebanon's Charg© d'Affaires in Kuwait, Ahmed Arafa. Speaking from the airport, President Aoun said, "The visit is an opportunity to emphasize that the Lebanese people await the return of their Kuwaiti brothers to their second country, Lebanon."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun highlighted the historical and fraternal relations between Lebanon and Kuwait, stating that these relations are deeply rooted in history and built on mutual respect and close cooperation at all levels. He expressed the Lebanese people's appreciation and gratitude for Kuwait's continued support, particularly during Lebanon's challenging times. Aoun noted that Kuwait has been a strong supporter of Lebanon in political, economic, and humanitarian fields.
Aoun mentioned that his visit will involve discussions with Kuwaiti officials to enhance bilateral cooperation and activate joint agreements between the two countries, serving the interests of both peoples. He also indicated that the discussions would cover regional challenges, issues of common interest, and ways to enhance joint Arab action under the current circumstances.
President Aoun expressed his anticipation of meeting with the Emir of Kuwait and other Kuwaiti officials, expressing confidence that the visit will open new horizons for cooperation between Lebanon and Kuwait.
