Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Thursday warned that corruption has unfortunately become a widespread culture, emphasizing that it will not be curbed without strict accountability. Speaking before the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Lebanese President urged its members to enforce the law without hesitation, guided by their conscience and ethics, and to resist pressure from any party.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun stressed the importance of the National Anti-Corruption Commission's role in the fight against corruption. He highlighted the necessity for all individuals, including the President, to be subjected to the rule of law. Aoun called on the commission's members to be steadfast in their duties and to prioritize integrity over external influences.
"You have a crucial role in the coming phase, and everyone must be under the rule of law-starting with the President of the Republic," Aoun added. His remarks underscore a commitment to transparency and accountability as fundamental principles in governance.
