Baabda: Following the Cabinet session at Baabda Palace, Minister of Information Dr. Paul Morcos announced the meeting's conclusions.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during the session, President Joseph Aoun expressed his condolences to the family of Elio Abi Hanna and highlighted the necessity of ongoing investigations into his killing. The President voiced concerns about the parliamentary deadlock, emphasizing that the current obstruction in Parliament hinders decision-making processes and the country cannot afford further disruption.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reported notable progress in efforts to restrict weapons within Palestinian camps, stressing the importance of concluding this process. He confirmed advancements in the investigation of Abi Hanna's murder and reiterated that the presence of weapons within certain factions poses a risk to all Lebanese citizens and does not benefit the Palestinian cause.
Minister Morcos revealed the formation of a ministerial committee tasked with developing a mechanism for financing reconstruction and compensating those affected by both the Beirut Port explosion and the Israeli war. He also stated that the Cabinet will review a comprehensive report from the committee focusing on the electoral law during its next session.
