Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday welcomed former President Amine Gemayel at the Baabda presidential palace. The two discussed recent developments on the Lebanese political scene. Gemayel extended his congratulations to President Aoun on his election as the head of the Lebanese state.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Gemayel expressed confidence in President Aoun's ability to handle the responsibilities of his office. He emphasized the importance of Aoun's role in rescuing Lebanon from its ongoing crisis, describing his election as a pivotal moment for the nation. Gemayel urged all Lebanese citizens to unite in support of the President's efforts to steer the country towards recovery.
In a separate meeting at Baabda palace, President Aoun received former MP Bahia Hariri. She also congratulated him on his recent election. Hariri conveyed congratulations from former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and wished Aoun success in fulfilling his duties amidst Lebanon's challenging circumstances. The conversation between Aoun and Hariri reportedly included discussions on the general state of the country and the specific needs of the Sidon region.
Additionally, President Aoun reached out to Professor Ismat Ghanem by phone. Professor Ghanem recently returned to Lebanon after being appointed as the first non-French president of the French Society of Pediatric Orthopedics. President Aoun praised Ghanem's achievement and extended his best wishes for success in his new role.
