President Aoun, First Lady Attend Good Friday Service as Baabda Flag Lowered

Baabda: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and First Lady Naamat Aoun attended the Good Friday service at the Holy Spirit University- Kaslik, marking the Veneration of the Cross, an important event presided over by the Superior General of the Lebanese Maronite Order, Abbot Hadi Mahfouz.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during the service, Abbot Mahfouz spoke on key issues affecting Lebanon. He warned against weakening the state and becoming dependent on foreign powers, highlighting the dangers of legitimizing entities within Lebanon that operate outside state frameworks. He stated that such actions inevitably lead to conflict and disgrace.

He further condemned any aggression towards Lebanon, both internal and external, and expressed the exhaustion of the Lebanese people from continuous wars and instability. Abbot Mahfouz addressed President Aoun directly, recognizing his efforts and support for state principles, peace, and national unity in Lebanon. He expressed hope in Aoun's leadership, determination to rebuild the nation, and commitment to the principles outlined in his inaugural address.

In parallel with the service, the Lebanese flag at the Presidential Palace in Baabda was lowered in observance of Good Friday, as practiced by Christian communities adhering to the Western calendar.
