Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday met with Haitham Mattar, President of InterContinental Hotels Group for India, the Middle East, and Africa. Mattar briefed President Aoun on the company's plans to develop its hotels in Lebanon amid renewed stability following the presidential election. President Aoun emphasized the importance of the government's planned reforms to stimulate economic growth.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun also met with the Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon, Hajriyanto Y. Thohari. They discussed bilateral relations, and President Aoun expressed gratitude for Indonesia's efforts, particularly its participation in the UNIFIL peacekeeping force. The meeting was part of the ambassador's farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Beirut.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Lebanese Expatriate Council, President Aoun stressed that the Lebanese diaspora is not just an added value to Lebanon but a multiplied one. He noted that without Lebanese expatriates, Lebanon would not have been able to endure. The President also highlighted the need for collective efforts, including from expatriates, to combat and eradicate the culture of corruption.
