Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received Iranian Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani at Baabda Palace. The delegation's visit was accompanied by Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Youssef Rajji.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Qalibaf conveyed greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and extended an invitation for President Aoun to visit Tehran officially. Qalibaf congratulated Aoun on his election and discussed the importance of developing Lebanese-Iranian relations across various sectors. He underscored Iran's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and its readiness to assist in rebuilding areas affected by Israeli aggression.
President Aoun welcomed the delegation and reiterated Lebanon's fatigue from external conflicts on its soil. He advocated for non-interference in internal affairs and emphasized Lebanese unity as crucial for confronting losses or aggression. Aoun referenced the Iranian constitution's stance on national sovereignty and independence, highlighting the shared values between Lebanon and Iran.
The President also commended the outcomes of the recent Riyadh Summit, particularly the reaffirmation of the two-state solution for the Palestinian issue. Aoun expressed Lebanon's commitment to fostering strong relations with Tehran for the mutual benefit of both nations and their citizens.
