NNA – President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, signed Decree No. 7770 of May 19, 2021, this afternoon.
This decree is related to the amendment of Decree No. 6172 of March 5, 2020 (appointing acting ministers in the absence of the original ministers), deciding to appoint the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Mrs. Zeina Akar, as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

“The President of the Republic
Based on the constitution
Pursuant to Decree 6172 of 3/5/2020 (appointing acting ministers in the absence of the original ministers)
And after the proposal of the Prime Minister, draws the following:
Article 1: The following was amended in Article 1 of Decree No. 6172 of 3/5/2020 (Appointing Acting Ministers in the Absence of the Original Ministers):
Zeina Aker, acting minister of foreign affairs for expatriates, instead of acting minister of interior and municipalities.
Damianus Qattar,, acting Minister of Interior and Municipalities, instead of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
The rest remains without modification.
Article Two: This decree shall be published and notified where needed.

On the other hand, and after a request by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Charbel Wehbe to accept his exemption from his responsibilities and duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and after consultations between President Aoun and Prime Minister Dr. Hassan Diab, Minister Akar was asked to assume her duties as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in addition to her original duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.– Presidency Press Office
