Baghdad President Barham Salih met in Tehran with the new Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, in the presence of the foreign ministers of the two countries and a number of senior officials from both sides, where they discussed common files between the two neighboring countries in a way that strengthens the solid relations between them, and developments in the region.
President Ibrahim Raisi expressed his country’s aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq in various sectors, describing them as “important and distinguished social, religious and cultural relations.”
He affirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the security and stability of Iraq and its people, praising the great efforts made by Iraq to establish stability and security in the countries of the region.
Salih, stressed the region’s need for understandings, coordinating efforts and relying on the commons through constructive dialogues to establish the pillars of regional stability.
During his meeting with the new Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in Tehran, Salih praised Iran’s supportive role for Iraq in fighting the terrorist organization ISIS and its plans to destabilize the security and stability of the region.
