Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, hosted a series of meetings at Baabda Palace, engaging with key figures to discuss the recent developments in Lebanon and the broader region. Among the attendees was the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, who discussed bilateral relations and current events.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Moussa highlighted the discussions with President Aoun, noting the exchange of views on Lebanon's current situation and regional events. The ambassador also congratulated President Aoun on Lebanon's Army Day and commended the president's speech, which addressed the performance of the Lebanese presidency and outlined measures to tackle sensitive issues.
Ambassador Moussa further discussed Lebanese efforts towards political and economic reforms, emphasizing the importance of restricting weapon possession to the state. He expressed hope for a productive outcome from the upcoming Cabinet session to benefit Lebanon's interests.
President Aoun also met with Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, who updated him on UN efforts to address Lebanon's situation. The role of the United Nations in supporting Lebanon was a key focus of their discussion.
Additionally, President Aoun received a delegation from various Christian leagues, including leaders from the Maronite League, Orthodox Gathering, National Renewal, and Syriac League. Maronite League President Maroun Helou expressed the delegation's appreciation for President Aoun's Army Day speech, emphasizing the importance of the army as a guarantor of the nation's sovereignty and independence.
