President Joseph Aoun Engages in Strategic Talks with US Envoy Barrack at Baabda Palace

Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, met with US Presidential Envoy Thomas Barrack at Baabda Palace, accompanied by US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson. The meeting focused on Lebanon's strategic initiatives and its commitments to international partnerships.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun presented a draft comprehensive memo to Envoy Barrack. This document outlines Lebanon's commitments from the November 27, 2024 Declaration and emphasizes the Lebanese government's ministerial statement and the President's inaugural address. The memo underscores Lebanon's urgent need to extend state authority over its territories, limit weapons to the Lebanese Armed Forces, and affirm that decisions on war and peace remain with Lebanese constitutional institutions.

The initiative also includes preserving Lebanon's sovereignty over its international borders while promoting reconstruction and economic recovery, supported by Lebanon's international allies. This plan aims to ensure the safety, security, and dignity of Lebanon and its citizens.
