Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, continued his meetings with institutions and organizations that are addressing the conditions of those displaced from villages and towns subject to ongoing Israeli attacks. After meeting with Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Al-Sayed and the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Red Cross George Kattanah, President Aoun met with the Head of the South Lebanon Council, Hashem Haidar, Vice President Rasha Abu Ghazaleh, Council Member Youssef Doughan, and Financial Auditor Yasser Zebian.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Haidar briefed President Aoun on the South Lebanon Council’s efforts to assist the displaced and meet their needs inside and outside shelters, including delivering urgent aid and fuel to residents still in their villages. President Aoun urged the South Lebanon Council to continue addressing the displaced’s conditions and coordinate with relevant ministries and the Disaster Management Authority to ensure comprehensive aid coverage.
On another front, President Aoun held a phone call with King Abdullah II bin Hussein of Jordan, discussing the current security situation in Lebanon and the region. President Aoun expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid sent under the king’s directives through the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization and the Jordanian Armed Forces. The aid convoy, which arrived in Lebanon today, comprises 25 trucks loaded with food, relief supplies, and medicines.
Additionally, President Aoun received a call from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, discussing the rapidly evolving developments due to the ongoing Israeli escalation against Lebanon. Von der Leyen informed President Aoun of the dispatch of a second batch of urgent humanitarian aid from the European Union, following the arrival of the first batch yesterday. President Aoun thanked the European official for the political and humanitarian support provided by the European Commission during this critical period for Lebanon.
