Baabda: President Joseph Aoun met with delegations from the General Labor Confederation and the Public Administration Employees' Association to discuss the challenges faced by public administration employees. During the meeting, held at Baabda Palace, President Aoun expressed his support for the employees' demands and acknowledged their difficulties.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Walid Geagea, head of the Public Administration Employees' Association, announced the suspension of the ongoing strike by public administration employees. This decision was made to reciprocate the positive response from President Aoun. Geagea emphasized that the strike suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
President Aoun assured the delegation of his commitment to addressing their conditions and promised to present their demands to the Council of Ministers in its upcoming session. He also highlighted the importance of the employees' cooperation in ensuring a successful summer tourism season, which is vital for the country's economy.
The meeting involved discussions with Dr. Beshara Al-Asmar, head of the General Labor Confederation, who outlined the current state of public administration and the challenges faced by its employees. The delegation concluded the meeting by submitting a list of demands aimed at improving working conditions, safeguarding employee rights, and enhancing the efficiency of public administration in accordance with principles of social justice and job stability.
