President Joseph Aoun Urges Ceasefire for Negotiations with Israel

Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, emphasized on Monday that Lebanon is not in danger and all economic indicators are positive. President Aoun highlighted the need for Israel to halt military operations against Lebanon to enable the negotiation process, which he believes is crucial given the current atmosphere of compromise in the region. He noted Lebanon's past negotiations with Israel, facilitated by the United States and the United Nations, which successfully led to an agreement on maritime border demarcation.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun stressed the importance of focusing on the south and prioritizing reforms, asserting that reconstruction is a responsibility of the state towards its people. He also clarified that the aid approved by the US Congress is not linked to disarmament issues.

President Aoun's remarks were made during a meeting at Baabda Palace with the Association of Economic Journalists, led by Sabine Oueiss. Addressing questions about the regional situation and its impact on Lebanon, President Aoun stated that the region is moving towards negotiation to achieve peace and stability. He emphasized that solutions are attainable through dialogue and negotiation, and Lebanon must align with the regional trend of resolving crises, as the country can no longer endure more conflict and displacement.
