Beirut Criminal Court’s second chamber, headed by Judge Sami Sedki, on Tuesday issued a sentence incriminating Mohammad Jassem and Khalaf Jassem Jerjis over stealing and selling manhole covers.
A Beirut Guards Regiment’s patrol had arrested both of the accused men in Karantina on board of a “tuk-tuk” with four sewer covers in their possession. They admitted to having sold the stolen items to an unidentified person nicknamed Al-Qardouhi, and who lives in the locality of Sabra. They also admitted that Qardouhi was the owner of the tuk-tuk that they used in their theft operations.
Consequently, the court unanimously issued a two year prison sentence against Mohammad and referred Khalaf, a minor, to Beirut Criminal Court.
