PSD Director Engages in Strategic Talks at International Police Chiefs Summit in Rome

ROME: Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Abeidallah Maaitah, attended the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Gendarmerie Commanders (FIEP) summit, underscoring the event's focus on enhancing global security cooperation. According to Jordan News Agency, Maj. Gen. Maaitah highlighted the crucial role of the Italian presidency in orchestrating the summit, which aims to bolster security, stability, and the sharing of insights to address mounting global challenges. In his address, he emphasized FIEP's significance in fostering effective collaboration among security institutions of member states to advance mutual understanding and develop strategic partnerships, facilitating the exchange of expertise and addressing pressing security issues. Maj. Gen. Maaitah called for expanded cooperation and collective action among member states to tackle diverse security threats, particularly cross-border crimes necessitating coordinated international efforts, such as drug trafficking, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, and environmental crimes. He affirmed the PSD's commitment to collaborating with all member states to uphold public order, enhance criminal security, and combat illegal immigration and drug-related issues. On the sidelines of the summit, Maj. Gen. Maaitah engaged in discussions with Lieutenant General Teo Luzi, Commander-in-Chief of the Italian Carabinieri and current President of the Association, focusing on strengthening cooperation in various policing areas of mutual concern. Additionally, Maj. Gen. Maaitah held meetings with several police and gendarmerie chiefs from the attending countries, furthering the dialogue on joint security efforts.
