The Public Prosecution announced yesterday the release of 1300 migrants and the arrest of 11 people in the municipality of Al-Shuwayrif on charges of smuggling migrants and human trafficking. The Attorney General's office stated that investigating authority initiated the public lawsuit following the dismantling of a network that specializes in smuggling migrants and human trafficking in Al-Shuwayrif, explaining that members of the General Department of Security Operations who investigated information related to the activity of gangs that specialize in organizing illegal immigration and human trafficking, the initial procedures showed them the investigations indicating the criminal incidents, and led the judicial control officers to identify the responsible for them. The office confirmed that the network's leader and 10 of his assistants were arrested for committing crimes including murder, unlawful detention, torture, and rape. Source: Libyan News Agency
