Public Works Ministry Establishes Temporary Border Passage in Arida

Arida: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced the establishment of a temporary border passage in Arida. This initiative is intended to ensure continued cross-border movement as winter ends and the water levels in the Nahr Al-Kabir River recede.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the temporary passage aims to facilitate the movement of trucks and citizens while technical studies are underway for the reconstruction of bridges that were destroyed in the February 2024 Israeli aggression. This step is part of a broader plan to enhance border connectivity between Lebanon and Syria.

The comprehensive plan includes both temporary and long-term development projects at the Aboudieh and Jisr Al-Qamar crossings in Wadi Khaled, which are designed to improve infrastructure. The ministry noted that these border crossings suffered extensive damage due to Israeli attacks that targeted bridges and critical facilities, causing prolonged disruptions in movement.
