Qatar Increases Import of Jordanian Dates Ahead of International Horticultural Exposition

Doha – Qatar’s local market has imported approximately 103 tons of Jordanian dates during the first 10 months of this year, marking a significant increase in demand for the product. Recent figures released by Qatar’s Planning and Statistics Authority website on Tuesday revealed a 10.6 percent growth in the import of Jordanian dates, compared to the 92 tons imported during the same period in 2022.

According to Jordan News Agency, this upward trend in date imports is expected to continue in response to the high demand coinciding with the 2023 International Horticultural Exposition, or Expo 2023, hosted by Doha. The exposition, scheduled from October 2, 2023, to March 28, 2024, is anticipated to attract about three million visitors, further boosting the demand for Jordanian dates in Qatar.
