Baghdad The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Movement for Change have chosen Qubad Talabani as the head of the Kurdistan Alliance participating in the early elections in Iraq, to succeed Lahour Sheikh Janki, who stepped down from the position.
Today, a meeting was held between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Change Movement, at the headquarters of the PUK’s political office, in order to discuss bilateral relations and choose a new head of the alliance that was formed between the two sides for early elections.
The two-hour meeting was chaired by the co-chair of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, and the General Coordinator of the Change Movement, Omar Syed Ali.
The final statement of the joint meeting stated that the meeting focused on the latest political and economic changes and developments in the Kurdistan region and Iraq and the intensification of efforts to further serve the citizens and respond to their needs.
He pointed to the approval of Qubad Talabani’s selection as the new head of the Kurdistan Alliance, as both parties affirmed their support for the success of the coalition.
It was also decided during the meeting to activate the electoral committees, complete preparations and enhance joint coordination.
On May 1, the Kurdistan Alliance was registered with the Independent High Electoral Commission, which was formed by the Change Movement and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
