Beirut: Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi on Monday engaged in a phone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty to deliberate on the prevailing situation in the region, along with successive geopolitical developments on both regional and international fronts, and the potential impacts these may have on regional stability.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministers also evaluated the ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel. Raggi provided Abdelatty with an update on the latest advancements in the talks, emphasizing Lebanon's dedication to continuing the negotiations in a way that protects national sovereignty and upholds Lebanese rights.
Additionally, the discussion included preparations for the Arab League ministerial meeting, which is set to take place in Cairo next September. Both ministers concurred on the importance of sustaining close bilateral coordination between Beirut and Cairo before this significant Arab meeting. The meeting is occurring amid sensitive regional conditions that necessitate a unified Arab stance and enhanced consultations among member states.
