Rahi Delivers Homily During St. Charbel Feast-Day Mass at Annaya Monastery

Beirut: Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi said during the Mass marking the feast of St. Charbel at St. Maron Monastery in Annaya that the saint "lived his life away from the spotlight, as an ascetic and hermit, content with God alone."

According to National news agency - Lebanon, al-Rahi emphasized that "God's grace dwelled in St. Charbel until his name became present in churches and homes around the world. He strengthens the weak, leads many to faith and performs miracles." Al-Rahi further expressed that on St. Charbel's feast, "we remember that the secret of his life was the mystery of the Mass. From it he drew his strength, and through the Word of God he was enlightened. Therefore, the greatest tribute we can pay this saint is to follow his example of faith."

Al-Rahi highlighted Lebanon's enduring mission and presence, stating that on St. Charbel's feast, "the Lebanese come together around a saint who united them through faith and hope." He acknowledged the severe crises facing Lebanon but maintained that the country is not lost as long as God accompanies it, urging people to look toward the future with hope.

The Patriarch also called for prayers for Lebanon and its officials, asking for divine guidance in working for national unity, preserving dignity, and safeguarding sovereignty. He emphasized that peace is the choice for Lebanon, urging it to choose the paths of truth, as truth is what builds the state and unites the Lebanese people.

Al-Rahi reiterated that "any agreement that preserves Lebanon's sovereignty, safeguards its national rights and strengthens the authority of the state deserves support." He renewed his call for the implementation of the "Framework Agreement," which he views as crucial for consolidating state sovereignty and safeguarding Lebanon's national rights.

In conclusion, al-Rahi stressed that all parties must commit to implementing the Framework Agreement, and he underscored that "active neutrality" is the national choice that protects Lebanon from conflicts and strengthens its internal unity.
