Baabda: Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi on Monday affirmed from Baabda Palace that 'we are in a time of negotiation, and the dawn of peace has arrived.' He stressed that the Lebanese Army 'is performing its duties south of the Litani,' adding that he does not fear the outbreak of war.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Rahi noted that 'the Americans have influence over the Israelis, and we are in a phase of negotiation and diplomacy,' describing the launch of talks as 'a positive sign,' and praising Ambassador Karam as 'an excellent choice for the mission.'
Rahi added: 'President Joseph Aoun stands above everyone, including the Patriarch. There is no gap between us, and we rejoice in the dawn of peace following the Pope's visit.'
