Bkerke: Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi on Wednesday received a delegation from the Higher Islamic Shiite Council at the Patriarchal See in Bkerke, represented by Deputy Chairman Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib. The delegation conveyed Al-Khatib's greetings and invited Rahi to attend the Council's Ramadan iftar on February 27.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, following the meeting, Sheikh Hassan Abdallah described the invitation as a national gathering bringing together political and religious figures, stressing the need to move away from divisive rhetoric and work collectively to build Lebanon.
Abdallah also spoke on national issues, affirming a commitment to Lebanon as a final homeland for all its citizens and underscoring that the state must serve as the primary guarantor of security and reassurance.
Regarding recent government tax decisions, he stated the Council supports fair taxation that ensures decent public sector wages without overburdening citizens.
