Tripoli: President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon, Toufic Dabbousi, on Tuesday hosted Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, along with Chairman and Director General of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL), Dr. Mazen Soueid, and Director General of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport, and the Port of Tripoli, Dr. Ahmad Tamer.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting was also attended by members of the Chamber's board and prominent business figures, including Jean El Sayed, Georges Najjar, Mostafa Al-Yamk, Khodr Habib, Hamed Zakaria, Khaled Dabbousi, Ritchie Heikal, and engineer Yasser Dabbousi. Discussions centered on the Tripoli Chamber's role in enhancing Lebanon's public infrastructure through integrated investment and logistical projects aimed at bolstering the country's economic standing in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The dialogue emphasized the importance of a productive public-private partnership in driving these initiatives forward. Minister Rasamny highlighted that his visit to the Tripoli Chamber was part of broader efforts to redefine the future of Tripoli Port and Ren© Moawad Airport in Qlayaat.
Rasamny mentioned, "We previously visited the South, and today we are in the North on a tour that includes various regions, particularly those affected by the Israeli aggression and those with economic potential." He further stated the focus on Qlayaat Airport and the Port of Tripoli, outlining a comprehensive development plan and commitment to operationalize Qlayaat Airport.
In response to inquiries about projects for the North, Rasamny underscored the need for infrastructure enhancements, especially road networks leading to the region. He remarked, "We have a project for these roads, in addition to development plans for the Port of Tripoli and Qlayaat Airport. Implementing projects in these key facilities will yield economic benefits and enhance the well-being of citizens."
On the topic of administrative appointments in the upcoming Cabinet session, Rasamny indicated that while appointments are anticipated, no confirmation has been received yet.
