Beirut: The Government of the Republic of Korea has announced a USD 2 million emergency humanitarian assistance package for Lebanon. This move comes as a response to the escalating humanitarian needs within the country, particularly targeting the increasing number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Lebanon who are experiencing worsening living conditions.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, this contribution underscores the Republic of Korea's dedication to aiding those impacted by the crisis. The funds will be channeled to key United Nations agencies, including UNICEF, which will receive USD 1 million, and UNHCR, allocated USD 600,000, ensuring a prompt and efficient response on the ground. Additionally, KRW 600 million of the assistance will be financed through the Korea International Cooperation Agency's RAPID (Responsive Actions and Partnership Initiative for Disaster Program), emphasizing Korea's commitment to international collaboration in disaster response.
H.E. Gyusuk Geon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lebanon, stated, "Korea stands in unwavering solidarity with the Lebanese people during this challenging time. We are providing immediate emergency assistance to address urgent humanitarian needs, reflecting our deep commitment. Alongside our partners, we pledge continued support to help Lebanon overcome these difficulties and build a brighter future."
