Beirut: On Saturday morning, residents blocked Al-Qayaa Road in Saida using dumpsters and garbage bags, protesting the waste that has accumulated along both sides of the road in the area for several days amid the waste crisis gripping the city.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the crisis follows the closure of the waste treatment plant, which stopped receiving garbage in protest over unpaid financial dues.
The waste crisis has been escalating in Saida for several days, with streets overwhelmed by garbage. Meanwhile, the municipality and local stakeholders continue efforts to resolve the crisis, reopen the plant and restore normal conditions.
