Beirut: The bustling city of Beirut witnessed a series of significant events, starting with the launch of the 'River Companions' project at the headquarters of the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS-L). The initiative, organized by Solidarit©s International, is in partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross, the French Red Cross, and CNRS-L, aiming to address environmental concerns related to river ecosystems.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the day also saw the opening of an international scientific conference titled "AI in Healthcare: Shaping the Present and Redefining the Future". This event is being hosted by the Faculty of Dental Medicine at Saint Joseph University. The conference is taking place under the patronage of Minister of the Displaced and Minister of State for IT and AI, Kamal Chahadeh, and runs through May 16.
In addition, Culture Minister Ghassan Salam©, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador Qian Minjian and Conservatory President Dr. Hiba Al-Kawas, inspected the resumed construction of the National Conservatory in Dbayeh. The project is near the Conference Palace and marks a significant cultural development in the area.
A sit-in was organized by the National Union and Tenants' Committees at Riad El Solh Square, highlighting ongoing social issues. Concurrently, a legislative session was held at Parliament, chaired by Speaker Nabih Berri, to review urgent draft laws.
The students of the Media Department at USAL University organized an event titled "And the South Remains" on campus, adding to the day's diverse activities. Meanwhile, the general assembly of the Syndicate of Domestic Worker Recruitment Agencies convened at Padova Hotel in Sin El Fil.
The day culminated with the opening of the 66th Beirut Arab and International Book Fair at Sea Side Arena, under the patronage of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. This event, organized by the Arab Cultural Club, will continue until May 25. Additionally, the 'Made in Lebanon' exhibition was inaugurated at Forum de Beyrouth, hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Trade under the patronage of Minister Dr. Amer Bassat.
