PETRA: Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu visited Petra with an official delegation from Romania, meeting with Fares Al-Breizat, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority. The visit focused on enhancing tourism and cultural connections between Romania and Petra, a renowned archaeological site. According to Jordan News Agency, discussions during the meeting centered on promoting tourism and cultural exchanges between Petra and Romanian destinations. Al-Breizat highlighted Petra's status as a globally recognized landmark and a significant point of interest for international travelers. He emphasized the authority's commitment to marketing the site to tourists worldwide, targeting new markets, and promoting unique tourism products, including religious tourism. Jordan's rich array of Islamic and Christian religious sites, such as Al-Maghtas, Makawer, Mount Nebo, and Mar Elias, were also discussed. Al-Breizat noted Petra's historical churches, some of the oldest in the worl d, as recognized by archaeological documentation and the Vatican. Minister Odobescu expressed admiration for Petra's historical and archaeological significance, acknowledging its place as a world heritage site. She praised the security and safety present in Jordan and Petra and welcomed the opportunity for cooperation with the Petra Regional Authority.
