Tehran: Russia's state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, has announced the evacuation of 94 individuals from Iran, although key personnel remain stationed at the Bushehr nuclear power plant. This development comes amidst escalating tensions as Israel and the US continue to focus on Iran.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Rosatom reported that the evacuated individuals included all employees' children, "non-essential staff," and anyone who wished to leave the country. This move is part of the company's response to the volatile situation in the region. CEO Alexei Likhachev emphasized that the company is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to take further measures in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safety of their personnel.
Likhachev did not provide details about the current status at the Bushehr plant, a facility constructed by Russia and serving as Iran's sole operational nuclear power plant. However, he reiterated that nuclear sites should not be targeted "under any circumstances," highlighting the potential risks associated with the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
