Saddi: Minister of Energy and Water Joe Al-Saddi announced that an agreement has been signed with Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, witnessed by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Cairo. The agreement focuses on the rehabilitation of the Arab Gas Pipeline on Lebanese territory.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the project will cover the section of the pipeline extending from Deir Ammar to the Syrian border, spanning approximately 30 kilometers. The rehabilitation will also include technical components such as remote control systems. Al-Saddi mentioned that the work on this project is slated to begin in the coming weeks and is expected to take three to four months to complete.
Al-Saddi emphasized that this agreement represents an essential step in Lebanon's efforts to transition its power generation sector to natural gas reliance. Once the pipeline is operational, Lebanon will commence the import of natural gas. Further, he confirmed ongoing discussions with Jordan and Egypt to finalize commercial agreements for the gas supply and with Syria regarding transit arrangements.
