Beirut: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with Beirut Bar Association President Fadi Masri, who extended congratulations on Salam's new role and Parliament's approval. Masri expressed the association's dedication to aiding the government's reform initiatives.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Masri highlighted the urgency of reviving the judicial system, prioritizing significant cases like the Beirut Port explosion investigation, and maintaining Lebanon's sovereignty. He pointed out the critical need for judicial appointments to resolve the judiciary's current stagnation.
On financial matters, Masri noted the importance of overhauling the banking sector, holding accountable those responsible for Lebanon's economic downfall, and creating laws to protect and recover depositors' funds. He confirmed the Bar Association's commitment to legal efforts aimed at uncovering the truth behind the financial crisis, assigning responsibility, and creating a transparent banking system aligned with international norms.
Furthermore, PM Salam held discussions with AUB President Dr. Fadlo Khuri, who reiterated the university's willingness to assist Lebanon through its academic and medical capabilities, emphasizing the need for ongoing partnership with the government for national advancement.
Additionally, Salam received delegations from Dar Al-Aytam Al-Islamiyah and the Zakat Fund, who invited him to their upcoming Ramadan iftars. Dar Al-Aytam's event is set for March 18 at Seaside Arena, and the Zakat Fund's iftar is planned for March 7 at Biel.
