Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, engaged in significant diplomatic discussions at the Grand Serail, meeting with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert to address key developments. The talks focused on the Mechanism meetings and the upcoming conference in Paris on March 5, aimed at supporting the Lebanese Army, along with discussions about the post-United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon phase.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam also held a farewell meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, marking the conclusion of his diplomatic mission. This meeting underscored the ongoing diplomatic engagements and bilateral relations between Lebanon and Iran.
Furthermore, Salam met with a delegation from the National Moderation Bloc, which included MPs Mohammad Sleiman, Ahmad Al-Khair, and Abdul Aziz Al-Samad, as well as former MP Hadi Hobeish. In their statement, the bloc expressed its support for the government's initiatives to extend state authority and emphasized the importance of confining arms to state control, while commending the role of the Lebanese Army. They also highlighted several urgent issues, including addressing unsafe buildings in Tripoli and the North, advocating for a general amnesty law, and prioritizing the activation of President Rene Mouawad Airport in Qlayaat for the development of the North and Lebanon as a whole.
