Beirut: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held a series of meetings on Monday at the Grand Serail, engaging with key international figures to discuss cooperative and assistance initiatives for Lebanon. Among those he met were UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon Imran Riza and UNDP Lebanon Resident Representative Blerta Aliko.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Riza described the discussions as "constructive and in-depth," with a focus on joint cooperation and assistance programs. The talks also delved into recovery and development programs crucial for Lebanon's ongoing efforts to stabilize and grow its economy.
In addition to his meeting with UN representatives, Premier Salam welcomed the Swiss Ambassador to Lebanon, Marion Weichelt. This protocol visit marked an opportunity for Ambassador Weichelt to extend her congratulations to Salam on forming the new government and assuming his responsibilities as Prime Minister.
Premier Salam also engaged with the UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Aroldo L¡zaro. L¡zaro expressed gratitude for Salam's firm stance on prosecuting those responsible for the attack on the UNIFIL convoy. The conversation further addressed the situation in southern Lebanon and the coordination between UNIFIL forces and the Lebanese army to fulfill the directives of UN Resolution 1701.
Additionally, Salam received a delegation from the 'Consolidated Contractors Company', including Chairman Samer Said Khoury and engineer Wajdi Maalouf. The delegation extended their congratulations to Salam on the formation of the new government and wished him success in his future endeavors.
