Munich: On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof to discuss the continued support by the Netherlands and European countries for the Lebanese Army and security institutions. In the discussions, the Dutch Prime Minister confirmed his country's participation in the upcoming conference on supporting the Lebanese Army, which is scheduled for March. Prime Minister Salam expressed gratitude for the Netherlands' ongoing support and conveyed Lebanon's interest in strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Prime Minister Salam also engaged with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, where he affirmed Lebanon's commitment to ongoing cooperation with UN human rights bodies. Their discussions addressed Israeli human rights violations in Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territories. Prime Minister Salam emphasized the need for intensified efforts to secure the release of Lebanese prisoners.
Additionally, Prime Minister Salam held discussions with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker. Their talks focused on bilateral relations and regional developments, with an emphasis on the importance of participating in the upcoming conference to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and enhancing economic cooperation with Austria. Prime Minister Salam also highlighted the necessity for Europeans to play a more significant role in supporting regional stability.
