Tripoli: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Tuesday unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the launch of the Tripoli Special Economic Zone campus project, in the presence of Social Affairs Minister Hanine El Sayed and local officials. Speaking to reporters, Salam said he was keen to visit families temporarily housed in the Hospitality Institute building, noting efforts are underway to secure alternative shelter for residents evacuated from unsafe structures.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Salam pledged to rehabilitate repairable buildings and demolish those beyond restoration, acknowledging years of neglect while stressing shared responsibility. Addressing recent tax increases, Salam said the government adopted binding measures to prevent inflation or currency depreciation, adding that salary raises for military and public sector employees were justified.
